Rad Dad #23—“Making Family”
by Tom Moniz
The Rad Dad zine, now published by the great 1984 Printing in Oakland, hits its 23rd issue with a great stride. Sandwiched between gorgeous covers by Thi Bui are 45 pages of well-rounded dialogue touching on all sorts of subjects in the radical parenting realm. Features include, but are not limited to: Cubbie Storm’s “Moving Through This Space of Unknowns: Pre-Dad Thoughts”; a piece on “Making Commitments to Other People’s Children”; an essay on “Parenting and Radical Engagement”; Airial Clark’s feature on sex positive parenting; and Daniel Shaw’s “I Don’t Know Much, But I Know My Son Will Be His Own Man.” This zine is essential reading for parents and non-parents alike.
